Gippos is a free software allowing users locate themselves on the map, share the location with friends, see other users on the map, and chat with them.
With the latest version of Gippos for Windows Mobile you can:
- exchange messages with jabber users
- mark your location on the map manually
- add to your contact list as many users as you want
- forget about checking for updates: they will be installed automatically
- inform people about your location even when your device is in sleeping mode
Gippos uses GPS receiver for locating your position, and Internet connection for messaging and displaying your position on other users' maps. The users positions can be displayed on Google, Microsoft, or OpenStreet maps.
What can you use Gippos for?
- make an appointment with friends
- meet friends in a place where you could have easily missed each other (for example in a countryside or in an unfamiliar city)
- watch the kids when they play outside and message them when they are too far from home
- warn friends about a traffic jam
- show friends a nice restaurant on the map where you just had a good lunch
- coordinate a team playing a city game
- simply locate youself like with a usual GPS device
